Dear Choral Students and Parents,
Welcome to Chorus at Bruton High School! We have planned an busy year of growing musically, traveling, performing, and of providing service to the community. You have chosen to be part of a program that is building upon a foundation of excellence. Last year, for example, our school was represented by The Chamber Singers of Bruton High School at the all-district festival and achieved two ratings of excellent and one of superior. Our department traveled to a competition in Hershey Park, Pennsylvania and walked away with not only the first place trophy for our division, but also, and more importantly, with the coveted Esprit de Corps Award. This year, we intend to build upon those successes - we are so glad that you have decided to join us in that effort!
This year I are very happy and excited finally to have our website up and running! Whether you are a currently- enrolled chorus student, a parent of a student enrolled in the program, a student considering enrolling in the program, an alumnus of our program, or if you are simply someone who is interested in seeing what's happening chorally at Bruton, I am very glad that you are here and invite you to check back often.
Our website was created to improve communication between home and school as well as to let all interested persons know what's happening chorally at Bruton. Students and parents: this is the place to come to keep up with all the events, requirements, concerts, and concerns. Please check out the calendar: you will see included not only choral events but also departmental and major school happenings. We pledge to keep the calendar updated in a timely manner. Honest. Calendar events are subject to change. Should changes become necessary, we will notify you as soon as possible so as to keep disruptions to a minimum.
Also, please note the Choral Handbook. In it you will find nearly everything you will need to know about Chorus this year. Students have been given a hard copy containing all the forms which will need to be signed. You may also wish to peruse the links to various sites to aid the development of our students - musical and otherwise.
Our Booster organization is a very active, highly-involved group of parents and other adults interested in furthering our choral program which would not exist were it not for their support and hard work. Please check out its link and see if there is a spot where you might be able to contribute. Parents who help out find that not only is doing so a good way to stay involved in the lives of their high schoolers, it also provides an avenue of social activity - as a group, chorus parents are great fun!
Please know that we at Bruton High School take music education very seriously. We have very high expectations of each and every one of the students whose lives we touch. Working in tandem with families, we can create a unique, wholesome, and productive experience for our students - this is our goal.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in the months ahead; preferably sooner than later. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In music,
Ms. M.......
