CHORAL AWARDS
Students earn awards for participation in events over the course of the school year. The awards are given at the end of the year at a special awards ceremony. In order to receive awards, students must have met the following requirements:
- Been part of the Choral program for the preceding year.
- Had no unexcused absences from rehearsals and performances.
- Have participated in at least one fundraiser.
- Have participated in small ensembles, the musical, choral recitals, etc, in any capacity.
- Are in good standing with their financial obligations to the choral department.
- Have at least a C in Chorus.
The awards are as follows:
Freshmen: Music Note Pin Sophomores: Letter
Juniors: Bar Seniors: Choral Pin
Additionally, those who have participated in All-District, All-Virginia, ACDA events will receive recognition at the banquet.
Special Awards:
- Grade Level Awards: Most Improved
Most Outstanding
- Most Outstanding Musician Award is given to the student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in choral/vocal music.
- Robert Shaw Award will be given to the student who has demonstrated not only not only musicianship but also a love of and a commitment to choral music. This student will have gone beyond general expectations placed on him/her as a choral student.
- Esprit de Corps Award will go to the student who is not necessarily the best musician, but who has shown a commitment and dedication level to the program and department that rises above all others. This award will be voted upon by the students in the program.
